Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has been labeled as a dictator by The Pirate Bay cofounder Peter Sunde because of the former's control over the world's largest social media network.

Sunde told CNBC that Zuckerberg gets to set the rules in any way he likes and the average Internet users have no real power in trying to sway a decision. While users can just opt out of Facebook, Sunde added that it has real-world implications.

For instance, a person not on Facebook can be labeled as anti-social. They are less likely to be updated by their friends and they could also miss invitations for events as most people today just use the social network's Events feature.

The Pirate Bay's Sunde said that Zuckerberg can be looked at as a dictator because of his power over Facebook, VentureBeat reported. He added that nobody elected him but he can change anything on the social network any time he likes.

Sunde said: "I'm not on Facebook but there are a lot of drawbacks in my offline world. No party invitations, no updates from my friends, people stop talking to you, because you're not on Facebook."

Facebook and The Pirate Bay are two entirely different entities in the Internet. The former is a torrent hosting site that allows Internet users to illegally download any media they like without paying for it.

In fact, the torrent hosting site has just recently come home to their .org domain after several years and months of trying to avoid legal consequences. They have been kicked out of Sweden due to a ruling from a Swedish court.

Sunde said that major leaders now need to talk to Zuckerberg in order to fix issues on Facebook, the Washington Times has learned. He is pointing out that Facebook has so much effect on a country's culture.

"If we say Facebook doesn't agree with our rules in our country we are going to stop Facebook in our country. We censor a lot of things, why not censor Facebook?" said Sunde.

The Pirate Bay's Sunde does raise some interesting and valid points. Facebook's Zuckerberg has note made any comments regarding the statements made by the torrent hosting site's cofounder.
