The "Game of Thrones" fans for a while seemed to have gone crazy over whether or not Littlefinger was really wearing a watch on Episode 4. The hit HBO show might have for the first time ever dropped a clanger, but the photo turned out to be fake.

Fans of "Game of Thrones" began to wonder if Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish, played by Aidan Gillen, is a time traveler after a still taken from Episode 4 went viral on Twitter. It was showing the character wearing what appeared to be a modern watch, according to Metro.

The photo led followers of the show to conclude that either the actor is so attached to the timepiece that he forgot to remove it before filming his scenes or Westeros is simply so technologically advanced. On the other hand, it may just be another internet prank. The online news site adds that upon revisiting Littlefinger's Episode 4 scenes, the hand in question was not wearing watch at all.

A simple investigation of the actor's picture wearing a watch on set found that it is a clever fake, confirms Digital Spy. Re-watching Gillen's scenes on the episode titled "Book of the Stranger" proves that the photo circulating the social media is nothing but a prank.

On the other hand, the entertainment news site adds that the photo may also be real somehow. If that is the case, then it is a mistake that was not meant for the public to see but somehow got leaked. Needless to say, no chapter in the books or part of the TV series ever suggests that Littlefinger can time-travel just to get a modern watch, although his character implies that he is capable of almost anything.

Moving on, "Book of the Stranger" was the first episode for Petyr Baelish to appear in Season 6 of the HBO series. The character, who is played by Aidan Gillen, has appeared in 32 episodes since the show started in 2011. Littlefinger is one of the longest surviving characters of the TV series though he is expected to die at some point in the future.

The next episode of Game of Thrones titled "The Broken Man" airs June 5, 2016.
