Apple could actually use a Smart Connector for their iPhone 7 cases as new phone case photos surfaced that show the inclusion on the next flagship smartphone.

There have been conflicting reports for the past few weeks on whether the iPhone 7 will be sporting a Smart Connector. Now, new photos of the cases have come from manufacturer Sunnyc which shows the connector present plus the dual-lens camera setup.

Fans and critics have also been disappointed to see that the new case just looks highly similar to the iPhone 6s. The listing shows that the case will be available for the public by the end of June.

The iPhone 7 case renders still show a dual camera setup for the rear, 9 to 5 Mac has learned. In addition, it still has the 3-pin Smart Connector that has been debated for several weeks on whether it will appear or not.

There are still no concrete explanations as to how the Smart Connector will be used. Some say that it will be used for the Smart Battery Case but it is only available for the 4.7-inch models and not the 5.5-inch variants.

Apple could be using the Smart Connector for the iPhone 7 similar to the iPad Pro which allows users to connect it to a Mac and provide data connections plus power simultaneously, Mac Rumors reported. This way, users can plug in a portable keyboard or mouse without having the need to power it by an external source.

Other case photos from Alibaba have shown that there is indeed a hole for the dual camera setup, but they lack the holes for the Smart Connector on the bottom. At least the dual-lens rumor is more or less already confirmed based on the surfacing "leaked" images.

Apple is expected to clarify everything as they unveil the iPhone 7 at a media event to be held sometime in September. The Smart Connector could be confirmed or busted together with the dual camera setup and the Cupertino-based tech giant is also expected to unveil their new iOS 10 version for all of their devices.
