Nintendo NX is expected to be an entirely new concept coming from one of the giants in the tech and gaming industries. That is why gamers are too excited for the release date which was previously set on March 2017. However, changes to the previously confirmed release date are to be expected due to some significant changes.
This change might be caused by the pressure coming from competitors like Sony and Microsoft. The Nintendo Company is trying to avoid the similar results of Wii U, whose fate in the market was affected by a troubled lifespan. The company is making sure that their effort with Nintendo NX will not come to a failure or loss.
"We are not thinking of launching the hardware at a loss. When Wii U was launched, the yen was very strong. I am assuming that situation will not repeat itself. Selling at a loss at launch would not support the business, so we are keeping that mind in developing NX," Pocket-lint quoted Nintendo CEO Tatsumi Kimishima saying.
With the rumored arrival of an updated PS4 and Xbox consoles, the challenge of coming up with a unique and attention grabbing console is quite difficult, especially with the growing dominance of mobile gaming. That is why it also being rumored that Nintendo NX will likewise be enhancing the handheld-game-integrated experiences of gamers while also enjoying virtual reality (VR) functions integrated into the system of the console, according to DigiTimes.
And this enhancement could actually be a game-changer for Nintendo, especially with the growing interest of the society towards virtual reality. While this console may be unique with its VR functions, the durabilty of the hardware should also be expected. Thus, re-echoing the goal of Kimishima to let consumers have a product they could play with for many years.
However, with this reported halt on the manufacturing and release of Nintendo NX, it is expected that changes in the price would also be made, putting into consideration the added VR functions and features. Guess we would just have to wait and see what are the updates and gimmicks included in the upcoming Nintendo console, and most especially the all-important release date of the product.
