The show's executive producer, Joe Henderson, has revealed some details about the storylines of the upcoming season of the fantasy comedy-drama series, TV Line reported. According to him, Mazikeen (played by Lesley-Ann Brandt) purposely aided Lucifer's mother to escape hell. The executive producer also detailed the background of the escape, which will eventually be revealed in "Lucifer" Season 2.

In the previous season's finale episode, titled "Take me Back to Hell," aired in April, Lucifer (played by Tom Ellis) was shot by Malcolm Graham (played by Kevin Rankin). Lucifer was in the brink of death and he called onto "Dad" (God) in a bid to make a bargain.

Lucifer promised to go back to his official duties in hell if God would guarantee the safety of both Chloe Decker (played by Lauren Geman) and her daughter Beatrice (played by Scarlett Estevez). At the same time, Amenadiel (played by D.B. Woodside) also suffered a critical gunshot wound and he had to be attended by Lucifer's loyal sidekick, Mazikeen.

God granted the request of Lucifer and the latter was seen back in hell. In the next scene, he immediately came back to Los Angeles and he had his conversation with Amenadiel. Many details were not included and the viewers were left guessing.

Many of the details for "Lucifer" Season 2 were hinted or obtusely alluded to. Henderson clarified that the TV audience has to read between the lines to understand where the story is heading. For instance, Mazikeen has just vanished after she helped Amenadiel.

This scene could be interpreted as Mazikeen having an identity crisis and she sorted it out by helping Lilith escape from hell.

Henderson had this to say "It was a very conscious decision not to have Maze there. You should definitely read into that. She sacrificed her most driving desire to save, of all things, an angel. I don't think she understands why she did it."
