Giuntoli pointed out that unlike the previous seasons that ended in cliffhangers; Season 5 seemed to be past that stage. As a result, Nick's demise was immediately debunked using the stick.

There seems to be more to the magical stick than what the show has exhibited so far. According to Giuntoli, the stick is part of the major components that will be unveiled in the upcoming season.

In an interview with TV Insider, the actor said, "Nick and the Scooby Gang are still discovering the potential of this stick, right along with the viewers. Nick survived a barrage of bullets through his chest and only he knows he's invincible at this point. But we don't know much more, like what kind of evil this stick could be used for if it falls into the wrong hands."

At the same time, "Grimm" Season 5 left Renard's allegiance unknown; blood dripping from is sword as he gazed at Bonaparte's corpse. Similarly, Meisner died in Season Finale.

In an interview with TVLine, executive producers David Greenwalt and James Kouf were asked why they thought it were the right time for Meisner to die in the finale. Kouf said that it was just reality, especially since Black Claw tricked their people into leaving HW unguarded, or short of a few men, and that is what they were looking for: an opportunity to get in. As they moved in, Meisner happened to be there and he could not evade death.

Meanwhile "Grimm" star Bitsie Tulloch teased in a recent post on her official Twitter account that Season 6 is in development. Writers have started putting together ideas on what is expected to come out in the sixth installment.
