Former "Scandal" star Columbus Short is plunged in real-life scandal as he has been sentenced to jail for 30 days. This was ordered following his recent violation of probation that was a result of past assault charges.

The 33-year old former star of the ABC drama was found positive for cocaine and marijuana last April, according to WKOW. Moreover, back in 2014, Columbus Short was given a three-year probation and community service of 30 days following his plea of no contest to spousal battery offense.

In addition, there reportedly are battery charges made against him following an argument he got involved in in a restaurant. The actor's misdemeanor charges are said to be the reason why he was given the boot from the TV series "Scandal."

Moving on, when Short appeared on court last Wednesday, the prosecutor alleged that he did not complete 30 days community service as the defendant's attorney argues that Short missed a week because of the recent death of his sister. The court decided in favor of the prosecution and ordered that the actor to check into a rehab facility and receive treatment for six months.

After six days in jail, Short was released late Thursday morning according to ET Online. "I'm feeling grateful for the learning lesson and I'm fully accountable for my mistakes," the actor said. "I'm ready to get to work and never go back to that place. God is good."

On the other hand, Short is expected to appear for a progress report hearing on June 28.

The past couple of years have been unkind to the actor. Besides the alleged misdemeanor accusations there were a number of occasions and accusations of domestic violence made against him by his ex-wife, Tanee McCall. The actor later on revealed that his behavior was due to his addiction to illegal substances.

Last March, Short announced that he and current wife, author Karrine Steffans. Steffan had made public through social media and her new book that the former "Scandal" actor was cheating on her. Though the actor admitted that he agreed to split with Steffans, he denied the cheating allegations.

Needless to say, as with Columbus Short's current situation with the law he said that he already wants to move on and get back to work.
