Arguably, one of the most highly anticipated events during E3 2016 is the unveiling of Microsoft's latest iteration of their widely successful Xbox One. However, mere hours before the Expo leaks of the upcoming Xbox console have made their way online. Based on the available accounts, there is both bad and good news for Xbox gamers.
According to Attack of the Fanboy, Microsoft mistakenly uploaded an image of the new Xbox One days before E3 2016. The image has since been taken down; however, Microsoft was not quick enough to derail ardent fans from saving and disseminating the leaked photo.
Neogaf user, KawabataSan, uploaded the picture of the latest Microsoft gaming offering on June 12. Based on the leak, the new Xbox, which Microsoft is calling Xbox One S, is 40 percent smaller than the original Xbox One. Nevertheless, the smaller Xbox One packs a bigger and more formidable storage capacity. The upcoming device includes a 2TB hard drive, which can save more game titles and data.
Moreover, the leaked image confirmed that the Xbox One S would support 4K Video and would include a streamlined controller and a vertical stand. It is expected that the Xbox One S would be available for purchase by 2017.
Elsewhere, Microsoft has confirmed that their plans to include a TV DVR feature on their Xbox consoles have been put on hold. According to The Verge, the decision was made in accordance to the feedback sent by avid Xbox gamers. Instead of including a DVR function, Microsoft has decided to dedicate more resource and research to improve user gaming experience.
"After careful consideration, we've decided to put development of DVR for Over-the-Air TV on hold to focus our attention on launching new, higher fan-requested gaming experiences across Xbox One and Windows 10," read the statement as published by The Verge.
This year's E3 is scheduled for June 14-16 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
