Since the commencement of the Electronic Entertainment Expo a few hours ago, the delay for the release date of "Crackdown 3" has been announced.  Despite this, Microsoft announced the game will be part of their "Play Anywhere" initiative where it will be playable by both Xbox One and Windows 10 even if only a single version is bought.

Developers explained that the reason for the game's delay is their objective of providing multiplayer mode to fans. The explanation stated that the developer experienced difficulties in maintaining the game's size, quality and scope within the initial target timeline. They added that their top priority is to give players an experience they have never seen before through "Crackdown 3," and the goal would be compromised if they stick to their original timeline, Dual Shockers reported.

The announcement only negated previous reports suggesting it would be playable in the recently held E3. Months before E3, reports surfaced that "Crackdown 3" will be playable in the event, this rumor was supported by an announcement made that the game will be available by summer of 2016. A trailer was even released before suggesting the game will be launched this year.

Despite the explanation given by developers, fans had high hopes and anticipation before the game's delay was announced, and this may have given them disappointment over the sudden turn of events. In spite of this, only a few more months will be waited before "Crackdown 3" finally hits their gaming consoles. Since there are still a few months left for production, the developer may still include additional features which may add excitement to the upcoming game.

Meanwhile, Microsoft's "Play Initiative" also includes other games like "Gears of War 4," "Ark: Survival Evolved" and "Forza Horizon 3." This will allow games to be played on co-op modes that will support cross play between the Xbox One and Windows 10. Any game associated with the "Anywhere" logo will be playable by either Xbox One and Windows 10. "Gears of War 4" will be launching in Oct. 11 while "Forza Horizon 3" will arrive a few weeks before Sept. 27, Ars Technica reported.
