While "The Walking Dead" fans are praying that Negan's victim is not the beloved Glenn Rhee, TWD producer AMC is making sure that the answer will not be known until the actual Season 7 airing in October 2016. Online spoilers will be prosecuted, a new report said.
In the same way that millions were left hanging by the question "Is Jon Snow dead?" during the "Game of Thrones" Season 5 finale, AMC is aiming to replicate HBO's success and appears more than willing to resort to legal remedies to control the flood of The Walking Dead leaks and spoilers. The show producer, according to TorrentFreak, is threatening a popular TWD fan community with lawsuit to stop seepages of S07 episode spoilers.
The specific target is the operators of The Spoiling Dead (TSD) Facebook page, which the report said counts over 350,000 loyal followers. It seemed that AMC got wind of a plan by TSD to soon reveal the recipient of Negan's brutal baseball bat blows at the close of TWD Season 6 and decided to take legal actions.
TSD confirmed to TorrentFreak that the community received a demand letter from AMC that was described as "a cease and desist and a threat of a lawsuit by AMC Holdings." Specifically, the TWD producer wants TSD to stop posting of The Walking Dead Season 7 episode forecasts that will reveal the identity of Negan's victim, strongly rumored to be Glenn.
"They say we can't make any type of prediction about the Lucille Victim," the group said in a Facebook post.
Part of the AMC letter read: "By advertising the illegal disclosure of intricate plot details of an unreleased episode of The Walking Dead without authorization, you will willfully and intentionally impair the commercial viability of the show and thus AMC's ability and incentive to continue to produce creative works such as The Walking Dead."
AMC further stressed that ignoring the notice would result to legal troubles as the show producer deemed spoiler leaks as tantamount to acts of copyright infringement, which the company insists has solid legal basis.
"AMC will file a lawsuit against you to enjoin your harmful illegal activities and seek to obtain money damages and injunctive relief to address your conduct," the letter warned.
AMC is expected to start the broadcast of The Walking Dead Season 7 in October that should finally reveal the Lucille Victim. The comics version says it was Glenn but TWD fans remain optimistic that showrunners will deviate from the original source.
