AMD has released benchmark results for their AMD RX 470 going head to head with their previous R9 270X video cards showing the true power of the Polaris 11 GPU with lower power draw.

The company has recently unveiled their new Radeon RX 470 and Radeon RX 460 at their E3 2016 conference. AMD CEO Lisa Su showed the two new smaller cards that are assumed to have a cheaper price tag compared to their bigger brother, the RX 480.

NVIDIA has taken the spotlight earlier with their $599 GTX 1080 and the $389 GTX 1070 that outperforms their previous line in the price point, performance and power draw. AMD followed with their Polaris GPU that are even cheaper but also have a significant boost compared to their previous generation of cards.

AMD is marketing the Radeon RX 470 towards gamers that want to play their video game titles at the highest setting on 1080p resolution, NDTV has learned. It would be a good entry point considering that 1440p monitors are still expensive at the moment.

Meanwhile, the AMD Radeon RX 460 is being targeted at those who often play e-sports games. They would work well with the various MOBA, RTS and FPS titles without dropping the frames.

The company has released the benchmarks for the AMD Radeon RX 470 to show where it is placed in the roster of video cards. It was shown to have a 3DMark FireStrike score of 9090 which is just right above the GTX 780's 8584, Guru3D reported.

Benchmark results also showed that the 470 with 110W beats the R9 270X with 180 W on various games such as Ashes of the Singularity, Hitman 2016 and Overwatch all at 1080p resolution.

All of the games run on the Polaris 11 video card had at least 18 frames more and the largest gap was seen in Overwatch with 45 more frames for the newer GPU. With a little bit of overclocking, it would certainly get smoother framerates.

Unfortunately, AMD has not revealed a release date for the Radeon RX 470 or the Radeon RX 460. The pricing could be somewhere between $100 and $150 for the cheaper Polaris 11 cards.
