The search for "Supergirl" Season 2's Superman is over. The CW has found the perfect actor to play Kara Danvers' cousin Clark Kent, and it is none other than "Teen Wolf" star Tyler Hoechlin.

The 28-year-old actor is trading his fangs as "Teen Wolf" resident alpha male Derek Hale to suit up as Superman in "Supergirl" Season 2. The announcement of his casting comes days after it was revealed that the Man of Steel would be visiting National City this season.

"Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman," "Supergirl" executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said in a statement, according to Deadline. "We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character."

Although Clark was a prominent part of Kara's life in the first season of "Supergirl," he never made a physical appearance and only interacted with his cousin via online correspondence. However, the show's execs have remained quiet about Clark's role in the second season of "Supergirl."

Hoechlin joins the roster of actors who've played the iconic character on screen, following George Reeves, Christopher Reeve, Dean Cain, Gerard Christopher, Brandon Routh, Tom Welling and Henry Cavill.

"Supergirl" is flying out to The CW for its second run, where Melissa Benoist starrer is expected to do a crossover with other DC Comics television series such as "The Flash," "Arrow" and "Legends of Tomorrow." The CW president Mark Pedowitz teased that the crossover event will be "the biggest one ever."

Interestingly, some of Hoechlin's "Teen Wolf" co-stars have moved to The CW to star in their own shows. Adelaide Kane, who played Derek Hale's younger sister Cora in "Teen Wolf," is currently cast as Queen Mary in "Reign." Colton Haynes is part of "Arrow" as Roy Harper a.k.a Speedy Arsenal. With the expected crossover event this fall, fans of "Teen Wolf" are hoping that Hoechlin and Haynes will have a reunion of sorts.

According to IGN, "Supergirl" Season 2 will debut on The CW on Oct. 10, and will join the network's Monday series slate.
