The Miami Heat could consider trading for Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose in the offseason.

The Heat may consider trading for a star to bolster their lineup, with free agency becoming very blurry for the two-time NBA champs. Dwyane Wade and Hassan Whiteside are set to hit the summer market, and with the two stars likely to seek max contract, the Heat will face a very difficult situation of keeping the duo unless one of them takes a pay-cut.

With the Heat only having limited finance to retain Wade and Whiteside, as well as other free agents like Joe Johnson and Luol Deng, the two-time NBA champs could consider a trade for another star to keep them as contenders sans Wade and Whiteside.

According to Jason Lieser of the Palm Beach Post, one deal the Heat may consider is trading for Rose, who has been the center of trade talks in the past month.

"Miami's bad luck in the 2008 lottery left it sitting with the No. 2 pick, allowing Chicago to take Rose first overall. The Heat ended up with Michael Beasley. They can make another run at Rose now that he could be available in trade talks," Lieser wrote.

While Lieser did admit trading for Rose makes no sense for the Heat with Goran Dragic offering better skillset tailored for Erik Spoelstra's offense, the Heat could be forced to do so to shed the remaining four years ($70.2 million) of his staggering five-year $85 million contract.

Considering Rose's inefficient shooting from the three-point area this past season (29.3 percent), and concerns for his durability, the Heat would probably be better off keeping Dragic, who also struggled to shoot the ball from beyond the arc with 31.2 percent.

Moreover, the Bulls would probably ask the Heat some of their young talents like Josh Richardson, Tyler Johnson and Justise Winslow, who have all showed potentials to become quality players for Miami.

It would be intriguing to see if the Heat would truly develop a genuine interest on Rose, who can be a game-changer when healthy. However, Rose is still too risky to be considered as an assurance if Wade and Whiteside bolts out.
