AMD Poland might have slipped and confirmed that the Radeon RX 480 8GB model will cost $229 as they posted a photo with the SRP on their official Facebook page.

Earlier reports have claimed that the Radeon RX 480 8GB's price would be around $250 which seems reasonable enough considering that it will double the amount of VRAM without doubling the price. However, the post on the social networking site may have proven that it will actually be priced less than the rumored cost.

The new Polaris 10 card from AMD gathered attention by being priced at $200 with a performance that could rival the GTX 970 or even the GTX 980, which are now being sold for less than their original launch price. AMD has even claimed that a CrossFire setup could beat a single GTX 1080 from NVIDIA for just under $500 instead of the Pascal card's $700 price.

Unfortunately, AMD Poland has already deleted the Radeon RX 480 8GB $229 product listing on their page after it went viral, Digital Trends has learned. More or less, that could confirm that it would be priced lower than the expected $250 from earlier reports.

The XFX Radeon RX 480 8GB has been leaked to be sporting a factory overclock of 1.3GHz instead of the 1.2Ghz boost clock of the reference cards. The partner card could go up to $250 or even $300 as some reports claimed the partner cards would cost more than the reference ones.

HWBattle has also revealed the thermal imaging test results of the Radeon RX 480 which showed that it maxed out at just 72c, WCCFTech has learned. The same test was conducted on a GTX 1070 which maxed out a bit lower at 71.1C.

Both tests were done on the reference cards using a FLIR Thermal Imaging camera. The results are impressive considering that the Polaris 10 and the Pascal card still have more headroom for overclocking especially for the custom AIB partner cards.

AMD will be releasing the Radeon RX 480 8GB expected at $229 on June 29 while the 4GB model will cost $200. The release date for the partner cards from XFX, Powercolor and Sapphire have not been revealed yet but they could launch a week or two after the initial Polaris 10 cards launch.
