On June 21, Tuesday, numerous news stand in South Korea reported that Hong and Kim's affair started soon after meeting on the set of the said award-winning film. Earlier reports claimed that it Kim was the first one who expressed her interest in him, despite the fact that Hong has been married since 1985 and also has a daughter, who is currently a university student.

Adding fire to the cheating claims, an unnamed source close to Hong's family seemingly spilled the beans to Korea's Dispatch, according to SBS, on how the love affair developed between the director and the actress. The publication notes that Mrs. Hong has already found out their affair in late-2014, as she believed that the mentioned film contained Hong's feelings for Kim.

Although Mrs. Hong did not pay much attention to her suspicion at that time, reports claimed that the director reportedly told his wife and daughter concerning his relationship with Kim in September 2015 and has not been home since.

"We've lived together for 30 years. We were a married couple that everyone envied," Mrs. Hong told Koogle's TV. "I respected him as a director and loved him as a husband."

With both Hong and Kim staying quiet over their alleged relationship, Korea's Woman Sense magazine revealed the exchanged text messages between Mrs. Hong and Kim's mother on June 22, Wednesday. The said conversation was made through the mobile messenger

As Mrs. Hong told Kim's mother that she was in so much distress, the latter then replied earnestly: "You think whose heart bleeds more? The wife of a cheating husband or the mother of a daughter who falls in love with a married man?"

The revealed text ended with Kim's mother crediting the blame to the director, as Mrs. Hong further noted that his husband reportedly stopped supporting his daughter's university fees abroad after meeting the actress. As of press time, neither party has commented on the reports.
