The upcoming "Star Trek Beyond" delves several years into the U.S.S. Enterprise's five-year mission. While the previous movies, "Star Trek" and "Star Trek Into Darkness" showed the vulnerable side of the character of Captain James T. Kirk, who is always trying to live up to the expectation, the third film is set to reveal his extreme bravado side.
Recently, Captain Kirk actor Chris Pine talked about the evolution of his character in all the three movies in the "Star Trek" series in all these years, TrekCore reports. In addition to revealing details about working with Idris Elba, the lead up to the production and whether William Shatner might appear again in the future "Star Trek" movies, Pine talked about what fans may expect to see about Captain Kirk in the upcoming movie.
Pine revealed how he was happy to realize the fact that in "Star Trek Beyond," Captain Kirk no longer had to live up to the expectations of his father and that he is relieved of the anger of not being able to meet or see his father in life. These things were the core of the previous two movies that completely missed to show the bravo side of the character, which was originally covered in the television series.
"I think it was very important, especially for the first film. There were fans that were dismayed that he had so much bravado - but there's no place for the character to go if you don't start somewhere." Pine told the publication. "And that guy is certainly still in there."
In "Star Trek Beyond," Captain Kirk is now an older guy and not a young man as portrayed in the first two films. Being a leader, his priorities and motivation have changed drastically.
While talking about the compressed development time that launched the production of the movie, Pine said that the actors do not have any say in that and they they are the last people to know anything. In fact, the actors are just told when to show up for the filming.
The actor further revealed that Doug Jung and Simon Pegg have come up with an amazing storyline for the movie. He further claimed having put all his trust in the team and being ready for anything to happen at the end of the day.
Recently, the "Star Trek Beyond" cast cancelled their appearance at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in the honor of actor Anton Yelchin, Yahoo Movies reports. Yelchin was killed on June 19, Sunday, in an accident involving his own vehicle. The young actor played the role of Pavel Chekov in the Star Trek franchise.
"Star Trek Beyond" will hit the box office on July 22, 2016.
