The WWE has started taping the Cruiserweight Classic series at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida. One of the 32 participants is former WWE superstar Brian Kendrick and Daniel Bryan wants him to win the tournament.

The WWE Cruiserweight Classic is one the projects of Triple H as he invited some of the top wrestlers around the world to participate. Some of the top names include Kota Ibushi, Drew Gulak, T.J. Perkins, Noam Dar and Zack Sabre Jr.

Former WWE superstar Tajiri is also part of the tournament while current NXT stars such as Johnny Gargano, Tommaso Ciampa and Rich Swann are also included. Independent wrestlers from different parts of the world were also invited and will take part in the WWE Cruiserweight Classic.

According to Cageside Seats, the former WWE World Heavyweight champion Bryan will be joining Mauro Ranallo as the commentators for the tournament. It is his first television appearance since retiring earlier this year because of multiple concussions.

In an interview with WWE.com, the leader of the YES! Movement was asked about his thoughts on being part of WWE Cruiserweight Classic. He also revealed that he wants Kendrick to win the tournament.

"The guy that I want to win the whole thing because he's my friend and I had my very first match against him is Brian Kendrick. We came up together. I've wrestled him or been in tag matches with him in hundreds of matches," Bryan said.

It should be noted that Bryan and Kendrick trained together at the Texas Wrestling Academy under WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels. They both started in the WWE at the Memphis Championship Wrestling and as enhancement talents.

Nonetheless, Bryan is very excited about the WWE Cruiserweight Classic. He is also keeping an eye on stars such as Gulak and Sabre Jr. The 32-man tournament is a stepping stone for many of these independent wrestlers.

The WWE is not known to like cruiserweights as Vince McMahon loves his big guys. However, the leadership of Triple H has opened the doors for smaller and more athletic wrestlers to showcase their talents.

The WWE Cruiserweight Classic will have tapings on June 23, July 14, August 27 and September 24. The entire tournament is going to be shown exclusively on the WWE Network.
