Jon Snow's mysterious lineage is finally disclosed, thanks to "Game of Thrones" season 6 finale on June 26, Sunday. He is actually the nephew of Ned Stark, the son of his sister Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targayen, the older brother of Daenarys. He is not just a Stark but a Targaryen, which makes him qualified to the Iron Throne.
Snow's father Prince Rhaegar was the eldest son of Aerys II "Mad King" Targaryen and Queen Rhaella Targaryen. He was married to Princess Elia Martell of Dorne and they had a daughter and a son, Rhaenys and Aegon. He abducted Lyanna Stark of Winterfell, resulting to the Usurper or Robert's Rebellion.
Ned lied about Snow's parents and took him as his bastard son from an unknown woman to protect him from Robert Baratheon, his political ally and close friend who was engaged to his sister Lyanna. Baratheon wanted to assassinate Daenerys because he believed that a Targaryen child is a mortal threat to his regime while Ned believed killing children is wrong, according to Vox.
The Targaryens practiced plural marriage so it is possible that Rhaegar and Lyanna legally married and Snow is not a bastard child at all. Hence, Snow may have some Targaryen superpowers like riding dragons and being immune to fire.
Meanwhile, with Ramsay Bolton's death in last week's episode, "Battle of the Bastards," the fantasy drama needs another big bad and a terrible villain to hate, according to Salon. Cersei Lannister happens to be that. During her trial and that of Loras Tyrell's, all the key people of King's Landings were inside the Great Sept of Baelor.
While everyone waited for the female twin Lannister to appear, Margaery felt there was something wrong but the High Sparrow did not believe her. The venue was then eaten by wildfire, gnawing all of Tyrell's clan sans grandmother Olenna Tyrell, who was on her way to Dorn.
While his wife was burned across town, Tommen was locked in his royal room from which he could see the fiery demise of the Great Sept. He then took his crown off and jumped from his towered bedroom head first.
