Dormer was honored for her work and contribution to the community. The actress also stars in "The Forest," "The Hunger Games" and the upcoming "Patient Zero."

"She has a knack for making mythical, larger than life, fictional characters seem like well - real people," Max Mara CEO Nicola Maramotti said of Dormer when presenting the award.

The annual award ceremony by the Women in Film recognizes men and women who helped expand the role of women in the entertainment industry on and off the screen. The event was co-hosted by Max Mara and Krista Smith, executive west coast editor of Vanity Fair. Dormer wowed those around her with Sophia Webster Rosalind satin sandals.

Also honored during the event was Traji P. Henson, who came in Jimmy Choo heels and a Marc Jacobs dress. She earned the Lucy Award for Excellence in Television. She goes on to earn acclaim for her role in "Empire" as Cookie Lyon on Fox. Claire Danes, Maria Bello, Cate Blanchett and Kate Beckinsale were present during the event as guests.

Meanwhile, many envisioned the cast and crew of "Game of Thrones" creating a kind of farewell ritual for departing actors, whose characters are killed off in the story. It could be wine toasts, cake formed with the dead character's face or ritual burning of the character's wardrobe. However, Dormer disclosed that send offs in HBO's hit are practically just basic, she told Vanity Fair.

The Consort Queen actress even shared that the cast does not cry when seeing a beloved fellow cast member leave. It is better that way because no one knows if the character comes back alive again, just like Jon Snow (Kit Harington).

As for defending the HBO hit series which has been criticized as misogynistic and sexist, the actress said it is not her job to defend the show because actors are just vessel of the writers' text and should have no opinions, she told The Hollywood Reporter. As for her character making a run for the Iron Throne, she said Tyrell is smart enough to know whoever sits on the Iron Throne dies. "You don't want to be on the throne - you want to be the power behind the throne."
