DaCosta will play an attractive nurse named Maggie Seaver, who starts dating Taylor Kinney's "Chicago Fire" character Kelly, whom she has known since high school.

Also joining the "Chicago Med" cast is S. Epatha Merkerson who will play tough and efficient hospital head named Sharon Goodwin.

DaCosta, Merkerson and the other cast members will be introduced in "Chicago Fire" Season 3 Episode 19 with the "Chicago Med" series to premiere at a later date.

The "Whitney" biopic seemed to have successfully boosted DaCosta's career as an actress. In 2014, she had to recreate a photo a cover of Houston's second studio album titled "Whitney," which was released by Arista Records on June 2, 1987.

Just 25 days after its release, "Whitney" ranked number one on the Billboard 200 chart making a record as the first female artist's album and fifth solo artist's album to have reached the chart's top rank.

In 2008, DaCosta also starred in a Lifetime Television Movie "Racing for Time" before appearing in "The Kids Are All Right" in 2010, "Whole Lotta Sole" in 2011, and "The Butler" in 2013 among others.

Directed by actress Angela Bassett, the "Whitney" biopic did not address Houston's death in 2012 but focused on the late pop diva's relationship with former husband Bobby Brown, Daily Mail reported.

Having starred alongside Houston in 1995 comedy drama "Waiting to Exhale," Bassett made her directorial debut in the biopic.
