Samsung started to work upon a new kind of technology, the iris scanner, since the year 2014.It took some time for the company to build the technology, but a recent patent clearly made it evident that the technology is finally to arrive.

In this patent, it is clearly mentioned that the iris scanning technology will have three different elements - an image processing system, a lighting device and three different lenses. According to the patent, the iris scanning technology uses an infrared light technology that shines on the eyes of the person who is trying to unlock the device by looking at the phone, Yahoo News reported.

Evan Blass recently mentioned via @evleaks on Twitter that the Note 7 will boast IP68 water resistance feature, which was present on the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. In the past, it was difficult for phone makers to waterproof a phone that has a headphone jack. However, Samsung made it possible to waterproof the Note 7 up to a depth of five feet under water that has a headphone jack, according to Forbes.

As far as other features are concerned, the Note 7 will reportedly feature a 5.7-inch Quad HD screen with AMOLED display. The handset is expected to tuck in a 12MP dual-pixel rear camera and a 5MP selfie camera. Meanwhile, the handset will also feature a USB-C port.

The phone is also expected to come with a 64GB native storage space. There will be a micro SD card slot in the phone that will allow users to use extra memory space by insering a memory chip.

Samsung is likely to release the Galaxy Note 7 on Aug. 2, only a month before the scheduled Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA) in Berlin. This means the phone will be launched ahead of the iPhone 7, which is expected to arrive in the market in September. Going by the anticipation of Evan Blass, the Note 7 will probably start selling around Aug.15.
