Title-winning titan Zlatan Ibrahimović recently confirmed in his social media account that he is moving to the English Premier League with powerhouse team Manchester United.
It was the first time Ibrahimović will play in England after winning domestic first division trophies in Spain with FC Barcelona, Italy with Inter Milan, France with Paris Saint-Germain, and the Netherlands with Ajax.
His move to the Old Trafford also marks a reunion with Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho, who he worked with during his title-winning campaign with Internazionale in 2008-2009.
The 34-year-old striker announced the development in his Instagram account on Thursday, saying "Time to let the world know. My next destination is @manchesterunited" with the hashtag "#iamcoming", only a few days after he also announced his retirement from duties in the Sweden national team.
ESPN noted, though, that Ibrahimović "was yet to sign a contract or have a medical when he announced his plans, and United have not yet confirmed the move".
There were reports disclosing that a draft of a one-year deal with United was already in place two weeks ago, but the former three-time Ligue 1 top goalscorer had intentionally delayed the talks as there is said to be a "loyalty bonus" from Les Parisiens if he finishes his contract with them without signing for any club.
Ibrahimović's PSG contract expired on Thursday and he officially becomes a free agent on Friday.
SB Nation also noted that the details of his salary terms is not out yet, but it is said to be "equivalent to what he made post-tax in France", which is more than what current Red Devils captain Wayne Rooney is earning.
The report said that Ibrahimović will give United "a presence and quality up top that United have lacked ever since Rooney's slow decline started a couple of years ago". Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford displayed a lot of promise last season, but they still proved to be lacking as the club came short of a Champions League spot.
The former Swedish captain is set to become the second summer signing of Mourinho after the team bought 22-year-old Eric Bailly from Villarreal for £30 million earlier this month.
Rumors abound the Mourinho was given a £200 million transfer kitty this summer to try and form his ideal squad that will compete for the Premier League title next season. Aside from Ibrahimović and Bailly, the Special One is also allegedly looking to sign Borussia Dortmund's Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Juventus' Paul Pogba, and Everton's John Stones.
