The voice of the once lead star of "The Vampire Diaries," Nina Dobrev, was heard during the final episode of the series' seventh season, and with the confirmation that the actress is returning in the next installment to reprise her role as Elena and/or Katherine, reports are loud that fans of the show wants to bring back her love team with Ian Somerhalder, who plays Damon in the series.
During an interview with TV Line, the showrunner of "The Vampire Diaries," Julie Plec, guaranteed fans that Dobrev was indeed returning in the season finale of the recent installment. Despite that, it is still not clear whether which of her two characters, Elena Gilbert and Katherine Pierce, should the actress reprise in the upcoming "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8.
On the other hand, according to HNGN, the actress is returning in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8, and will feature more romantic scenes between Dobrev and Somerhalder. With that said, the publication also noted that the real-life partner of Somerhalder, Nikki Reed, is worried about the return of Dobrev in the show, given that more sex scenes of Damon and Elena/Katherine may be be pursued.
However, even if Reed may not like the sex scenes of her husband with his former girlfriend, she just could not do anything about it because the intimate scenes of Damon and Elena and/or Katherine is a must in order to keep the fans interested in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8.
It can be recalled that Dobrev and Somerhalder dated before, and then the actress decided to part ways with the latter. According to reports, Reed thought that she may only be a rebound girlfriend after Dobrev broke-up with Somerhalder.
Meanwhile, as of the moment, it is still unclear whether Dobrev will fill the shoes of Elena or Katherine. Despite of this, reports are loud that fans of the show hopes for more romance between Damon and Elena, or even Damon and Katherine.
It was reported that "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 will air on October 2017.
