Microsoft fans will now be able to play any Microsoft published games on both Xbox One and Windows 10 through only a single purchase. Xbox Play Anywhere is an initiative launched by Microsoft during their conference last E3.

The tech-giant is now planning to convert all of its future games to become playable using both Windows 10 and Xbox One through this initiative. It will be beneficial for gamers as it will allow them to play games across the two platforms. The initiative is said to be launching on Sept. 13, The Verge reported.

Play Anywhere will allow players to save game progress using a single file, which can be playable by both Windows 10 and Xbox One. This save file includes achievements as well.

Any DLC purchased will also be playable on both systems. Game add-ons, consumable, season passes and game unlocks will also be available across both consoles.

All games who can work with the scheme will have an Xbox Play Anywhere logo to indicate compatibility. Some of the supported games includes "Gears of War 4," "Halo Wars 2," "Forza Horizon 3," "ReCore," "Sea of Thieves," "Scale Bound," "State of Decay," "Crackdown" and "Cuphead" among others. Only Microsoft-published games will be compatible with the said feautre.

On the PC side, users have to install a Windows 10 Anniversary Update. Microsoft Corporate Vice President Yusuf Mehdi wrote in a Windows blog that a free Windows 10 upgrade will be offered until July 29. Other promos include a discount of $300 if both Xbox One and Microsoft Surface are purchased on a Microsoft store.

The said post also revealed that the new Windows 10 upgrade will be offering significant security protection. It will also allow users to be even more productive with an additional fun factor.

More games are expected to be compatible with Xbox Play Anywhere in the coming months. Other titles may be revealed as the September launching nears. The innovation will allow consumers to spend less on their purchased games and allow them to have more flexibility playing from console to console.
