A YouTube video clip posted by someone named PlayMeThrough shows the upcoming exclusive PlayStation 4 game, "The Order: 1886", has limited gameplay lasting just five hours and 30 minutes. This already includes cutscenes.
Ready at Dawn, the developer of the game, responded by saying the limited gameplay time is wrong. The company added it's impossible to beat the game in the time shown in the leaked YouTube video.
After the video was posted, several reviews of "The Order: 1886" emerged and instantly criticized the game's limited playing time.
Before the leaked video surfaced, a lot of rumors kept circulating claiming the game can be beaten in less than five hours.
Ready at Dawn CEO Ru Weerasuriya told Eurogamer, "Game length is important. Every game has to take its own time to tell its story."
Based on official trailers and gameplay provided by the game developer, "The Order: 1886" relies heavily on interactive cutscenes and players are immersed in quick-time decision making moments.
The game is a shooter presented in a third-person perspective. It combines shooting, exploration and puzzle-solving events.
Another issue raised by some critics is the game's replay-ability. "The Order: 1886" is a single player game and doesn't include multiplayer support, which means a player has nothing to do one the game is done.
Weerasuriya rebutted this by saying the game was developed with the "quality over quantity" mentality approach towards players.
Another issue raised was that Ready at Dawn's lacked the time and manpower to develop and add more content to the game. The company based in Irvine, California has a workforce of 120 people, which is considered minimal in terms of video game production at this level.
"The Order: 1886" will be released Feb. 20.
