Naruto Shippuden episode 467-468: Hagoromo, the Sage of the Six Paths, sent his sons Indra and Ashura to far-away lands with mission at hand. He hoped the result of their mission will help him find a rightful successor of the Ninshu art. But little did he know, that his decision will pave way to a bloody sibling rivalry that will be passed on to the next generations and generations after that.
Episode 467 Preview: - Ashura's Decision:
After finding the cause of illness in the village, Ashura is determined to solve the problem as much as he could. But to do that the younger son of the Hagoromo's children understands the needs to master his Ninshu skills and reach his full potential as chakra wielder.
The Sage of the Six Path wanted his guys to grow in their journeys. He wanted Indra, gifted with incredible skills and chakra, to learn the value of love, while the less-gifted but loving Ashura to harness his power.
Potential Spoilers for Episode 467, 468:
In a discussion on reddit, Tobirama Senju HokageEzio comes up with a theory about a bloody ending in the war of leadership between Ashura and Indra. The Naruto reddit moderator went on to say Ashura and Indra killed each other, but the conflict did not end there as it was passed onto their descendants, the Senju and Uchiha clans.
Many thought this is just a plain theory, an educated guess. However, Tobirama Senju HokageEzio appears to have a solid basis that will support his claim.
"Not speculation, they fought in a long war that resulted in their bodies being destroyed. Exhibit 1 said it, Exhibit 2 (Chapter 460 - Naruto Shippuden) basically said the same thing. They fought, they killed each other, destroyed their bodies, and the chakra lived on. Unless Ashura's followers just decided to burn his body after he died, they destroyed each other."
It sounds like there will be a brutal ending to this Indra vs. Ashura segment of this arc. It will be interesting how the animators will interpret the canon. I mean it could be interpreted much differently. Either way, this makes the next episodes of Naruto Shippuden a must watch.
