Arthur Darvill is reprising her role as Rip Hunter in "Legends of Tomorrow" Season 2. What his character said in the finale of The CW series' first season apparently are hints to what is going to happen in the next season.

"Like Rip says at the end of the season finale, there basically are no more Time Masters," Entertainment Weekly quoted executive producer Marc Guggenheim as saying. "We basically have to be the Time Masters."

In "Legends of Tomorrow" Season 1 episode 16 titled "Legendary," Rip decided that it was time for each member of the Legends team to decide his or her own destiny. After the many sacrifices they have made, they returned to Central City.

According to Guggenheim, "Legendary" set up the new mission statement for "Legends of Tomorrow" Season 2. The Legends team will have a new directive after the destruction of the Time Council and Oculus.

"Legends of Tomorrow" Season 1 ended with Rex Tyler/Hourman (Patrick J. Adams), who arrived on a Waverider of his own, warning the Legends team that they would all die if they boarded their Waverider with the mission of becoming Time Masters themselves. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Guggenheim said Hourman's arrival signaled a major shift for The CW series.

"With his final words in the finale, he planted a pretty deep flag about where we're headed in season two," Guggenheim told the publication. He said it is introducing not only Hourman but also his teammates in the Justice Society of America.

For Guggenheim, it is "a pretty big move" in the DC universe on TV. Comic book fans are familiar about the Justice Society being the precursor to the Justice League.

"Legends of Tomorrow" Season 2 episode 1 will air on The CW on Oct. 13. Aside from Darvill and Adams, Victor Garber, Franz Drameh, Caity Lotz, Dominic Purcell and Brandon Routh are also reprising their roles as Dr. Martin Stein, Jefferson "Jax" Jackson, Sara Lance, Mick Rory and Ray Palmer, respectively.

In addition, "The Originals" alum Maisie Richardson-Sellers is joining the cast of "Legends of Tomorrow" Season 2. She will play Amaya Jiwe/Vixen.
