The dreams of "Constantine" fans may soon be coming true, as "Constantine" Season 2 revival may be underway after TV series "Supergirl" moves from CBS to The CW. It can be noted that both TV shows are based on DC Comics.
Four months after "Constantine" Season 1's finale in May 2015, NBC announced that it will not renew the show for a second season. Much to the audience's dismay, the TV show did not garner high viewership ratings despite critics loving the show, Christian Times reported.
Despite the untimely ending of the show, Matt Ryan, who portrayed the titular character John Constantine, made guestings as the beloved character on the fourth season of "Arrow," where he assisted Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) in facing the consequences of bringing Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) back to life, and furthermore helping him fight Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough).
As "Arrow" is shown on the CW, fans speculate whether this is a sign that the TV network will adopt the show and continue airing "Constantine" Season 2 on their network. These speculations were ignited even further when the 1st season of "Constantine" has been made available on CW Seed, where the TV network's past and current shows could be viewed. The show was added to the website's "DC Spotlight," which featured shows that were based on their respective DC Comics.
The CW is home to many DC Comics-based TV shows such as "Legends of Tomorrow," "The Flash," "Arrow," and just recently, "Supergirl." The fact that these shows and their worlds are connected to "Constantine," it really raises hopes that CW will adopt "Constantine" Season 2.
Meanwhile, CW President Mark Pedowitz slammed rumors that the network will be adopting "Constantine" Season 2. It is said that due to the abundance of DC superhero shows on the said channel, Pedowits notes that they would not be having any more new superhero show after "Supergirl" for a while, as adopting this show already introduces many changes for the "network's DC Universe."
In addition, even if the network plans to adopt "Constantine" Season 2, Ryan will not be available for filming as he is currently busy taping the UK TV series "The Halcyon," which has been "billed for eight installments," according to Cinema Blend.
