The official synopsis of episode 4 hinted that the PLLs will try to cover up the murder of Alison's husband, which in turn will greatly affect their relationships with their lovers. Despite this negative effect for the other PLLs, it is rumored that Spencer and Toby will finally have their chance together.
Though Hanna and Caleb's kiss last episode affected Spencer and Caleb's relationship, Spencer will be dealing it with ways she may regret in the future. In addition, Mona will be intervening with the cover up plan the PLLs will be trying to put up, according to Pretty Little Liars.
The last episode showed how the PLLs were really worried about their friend, Alison, who was in the hands of her husband, Elliot Rollins. Allison tried to escape the hospital by strangling Rollins with an IV tube but she was still overpowered by her husband, her being strapped down back to bed after being injected with a sedative.
When Spencer learned about Caleb and Hanna's kiss, she did not put up any effort in talking again with Caleb, although the latter tried to win her back. As for Toby, his engagement went on with Yvonne despite the seemingly burning out flames of their romance.
Now that both Spencer and Toby's relationship seem to be on the rocks, will the two be able to get a chance with each other? It seems that the show is pointing towards this future romance with all the evidence that has been hinted in episode 3.
As for the trauma that Alison experienced with her husband, she was finally able to escape from the nightmare, but by escaping meant her having to kill Rollins. The aftermath of this murder will push the PLLs to bury Rollins' body to hide it as a secret.
Meanwhile, since Emily asked Toby's help, the latter would be helping them with the case, Wet Paint reported. Now that Toby will be investigating in the next season, the event may add up to the growing speculation that he and Spencer will finally have their chance together.
