One of the world's leading tech giant, Microsoft, has yet to confirm whether the release of the latest Surface All-in-One will be in the third quarter of 2016 or fall of 2017.

According to DigiTimes, while Microsoft is yet to launch its Surface Book 2, a new edition in Surface series is already in the works to put up with Apple's ever popular iMac. Earlier in June, it was rumored that the release of the said Surface AIO will be late this year; however, a sudden setback has to be made due to unavailability of chipsets produced by Intel, called Kaby Lake. Others speculated that the delayed release of these Surface series was because Microsoft was waiting for the transition of Windows 10 to Redstone 2 to dominate the PC market.

In the recent years, it can be remembered that the PC market has continuously declined, causing an adverse effect to Microsoft itself. The competition was even made harder for them when Apple released an AIO model, the iMac. Redmond Pie also said that this seems to be the next step of the company, which is to challenge Apple after hitting notebook and tablet PC market. DigiTimes noted the same thing as it reported that the launch of the Surface AIO PC is believed to have a strong impact on the global AIO PC market, which has been diminishing amid declining demand for PC products.

Meanwhile, rumors have it that Surface Book 2 will be released along with Surface Pro 5, built with various upgrades and improvements in their processors and external appearance. It is said that Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2 will come out with 4k display in a lighter and thinner body, which are expected to bring the Surface Series with faster and high-performance levels.

Accordingly, Microsoft may have been planning to launch another OEM to shake off Apple a little, but the latter's patrons do not seem to budge off. Many argue that Microsoft should better be prepared to have something different to offer than those AIOs that already flooded the market.
