The Università di Napoli Federico II in Naples, Italy, has announced it will host Apple Inc's first ever iOS Developer Academy in Europe. The academy will officially open in October 2016 and over 200 students will participate in the first year, while more will follow in subsequent years.
The iOS Developer Academy will see hundreds of students being imparted practical skills and training on developing apps for the most innovative as well as vivacious app ecosystem globally, according to the Università di Napoli Federico II website. Students at the academy will participate in a nine month curriculum that has been designed and supported by Apple.
The iOS Developer Academy will have a dedicated facility at the university's new campus in San Giovanni a Teduccio. This facility includes several labs in addition to access to the most up-to-date Apple hardware and software.
The program will be divided into two segments with the first half seeing students studying iOS software development. In the second half, they will go in-depth into app design and startups. The best part of the program is that admission is free, with the only requisite being appearing for an entry test and interview.
Apple is thrilled to be working with Universita' di Napoli Federico II in launching the first ever iOS Developer Academy in Europe, the post quoted Luca Maestri, Apple's CFO, as saying. He added that some of the most creative developers come from Europe from different regions of the world, and they are convinced this center will help the next generation to acquire the skills they require for being successful.
Meanwhile, in a post the company's official website, Apple CEO Tim Cook stated that Europe is home to some of the most creative developers in the world and they are thrilled to be helping the next generation of entrepreneurs in Italy gets the skills they need for success."
According to Cook, the unparalleled success of the App Store is one of the driving forces that helped Apple create more than 1.4 million jobs in Europe. The upcoming academy will provide unlimited opportunities for people of all ages and businesses of all sizes across Europe.
Apple further stated that it plans to expand the course to other countries and regions. The next iOS Developer Academy will be located in Bengaluru, India.
