Green was released after posting a $200 cash bond. The arraignment is scheduled for July 20. If convicted, the native of Saginaw, Mich. could be fined $500 and/or serve a jail time of up to 90 days.

In an SF Gate report, the Golden State Warriors released a statement Monday which said, "We are aware of news involving Draymond Green in Michigan over the weekend. At this point, we are collecting information and will have no further comment until we have a better understanding of the situation."

Green is also in the roster to represent the United States in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. USA Basketball, which governs the US Olympic basketball team, also stated that they are aware of the news and have no comment on his status at present.

The six-foot-seven, 230 pound All-Star is one of the best players in Michigan State history. He was a consensus 2012 All-American and is the all-time leader in rebounds. He is one of only three players in Michigan State history with over 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds.

The 35th overall pick in the 2012 Draft, Green was named to his first All-Star team last season, when he averaged 14.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 7.4 assists, 1.4 blocks, while playing 34.7 minutes per game and leading the Warriors to a record 73-9 win-loss record in the regular season, before being defeated by the Cleveland Cavaliers  in the NBA Finals.

Green has been involved in controversy before, on the basketball court. In the 2016 Finals, he was suspended for the crucial Game 5 of the series for collecting four flagrant foul points, which merited an automatic suspension. He was assessed a Flagrant Foul Penalty 1 for hitting LeBron James in the groin during Game 4. Previously, he was given a Flagrant 2 foul for kicking Steven Adams in the groin during the Western Conference finals and a Flagrant 1 for throwing Michael Beasley to the ground during the first round.
