"Girl Meets World" season 3 is rumored to be in danger of being axed.
According to TV by the Numbers, some episodes this season that aired after the annual Shark Week specials on the network fell three tenths from its previous 0.6 rating to a 0.3.
The ratings for "Girl Meets World" season 3 seem to be alarming at best because most often than not, the sitcom receives pretty impressive ratings.
By the looks of it, some avid fans of the show didn't tune it as much as they did in the previous seasons because of the controversial love triangle storyline.
Prior to the airing of season 3, Lucas (Peyton Meyer), Riley (Rowan Blanchard) and Maya (Sabrina Carpenter) were involved in a love triangle with each other.
Some fans expressed their disappointment with the storyline especially since "Girl Meets World" is well known for releasing wholesome stories.
Even though the three characters didn't engage in any form of indecent deeds, the fact that they are involved in a love-related story didn't sit very well with viewers.
Meanwhile, last week marked the first episode where Lucas, Maya and Riley finally solved their love triangle-related ordeal.
In the installment, Lucas told his guy friends that he is now ready to name the person that he wants to be with.
While waiting for Maya and Riley, Lucas told his friends that he has finally made up his mind.
The minute the two girls arrived at the house, they asked Lucas for his decision. But before he could respond, Maya assumed that Lucas will choose Riley.
After all, throughout the past couple of seasons, Maya has been feeling second best next to her good friend.
Maya told Lucas that choosing Maya was the right thing to do especially Riley really wants to be with him.
However, it seems that Lucas was supposed to choose Maya at that time.
In the upcoming episodes, Maya will finally decide to focus on herself by being true to her identity. She will also no longer hide behind her best friend's persona.
"Girl Meets World" season 3 airs Fridays at 8:30 p.m. ET on Disney Channel.
