"The Walking Dead" Season 6 finale went the cliffhanger route when the AMC TV show introduced new villain Negan, who immediately made his mark by bashing somebody's head. "Who Negan killed?" remains the lingering question in the lead up to Season 7. Was it Glenn Rhee?

The comics version of TWD indicates that Negan crashed into the scene wielding his barb wire-covered baseball bat named Lucille and mercilessly killing the beloved character. But fans would want to believe that showrunners will not be too faithful to the show's origin and decide to spare Glenn.

And it appears that could be the case, TV Guide said in a new report, adding that the person who received the deadly blows delivered by Negan was not Glenn. But it was somebody whose death will certainly devastate Glenn.

"We're pretty sure Negan kills Maggie on The Walking Dead," TV Guide reported.

The publication's guesswork was based on Maggie or Lauren Cohan (who plays the character) not being around during the filming of TWD, which returns to television screen October 2016. Of note, it's the same reason backing the rumors that Glenn was killed by Negan. Actor Steven Yeun is missing in action in Atlanta, where the show was filmed.

"Lauren Cohan has only been spotted on set once so far during filming for Season 7. And that was for premiere, which will pick up exactly where the finale left off," the report said.

Cohan was also observed dropping hints of being away from the TWD set. On Instagram, the actress posted a photo of her on a beach and it was shared at a time when the show was in production. TV Guide noted that it was physically impossible for Cohan to enjoy the beach while doing work for The Walking Dead.

"The Walking Dead shoots outside of Atlanta, hundreds of miles from the ocean," the report said.

Or it is possible that the TWD cast member was deliberately providing fake clues that would lead fans to believe she's no longer part of the show. It's part of the plan by AMC to sustain the mystery of "Who Negan killed?"

But if indeed Glenn was not Lucille's victim and it was Maggie, the sight of the latter's horrible death could redefine the former's character and in the process change the course that The Walking Dead is taking for Season 7.

How exactly such twist will play out is another thing to look forward to when AMC resumes the airing of The Walking Dead for Season 7 starting October 2016.
