Korean singer and "Running Man" cast member Kim Jong Kook has recently shared an Instagram photo of himself with "Descendants of the Sun" star Song Joong Ki that showed just how close they really are in real life.
The two Korean stars displayed their close friendship in an Instagram photo uploaded by "Running Man" cast member Kim Jong Kook on Sunday, July 17, Soompi reported. Both Korean celebrities looked casual in the picture with Kim Jong Kook wearing khaki shorts and a black shirt with a black cap. On the other hand, the "Descendants of the Sun" actor wore blue pants, a striped white and gray shirt, as well as a blue cap.
The two Korean stars were photographed seated on a cream colored couch. Song Joong Ki flashed a "V" sign with his right hand while Kim Jong Kook pointed to the actor with his other arms draped around his friend's shoulders. The Korean singer wrote on Instagram that he was happy to see his friend become successful and more popular. He also described Song Joong Ki as a loyal person and a good guy who is on his way to becoming a "top world star."
Avid fans may recall that Song Joong Ki was originally part of the Korean variety show "Running Man" that included Kim Jong Kook, as well as one of the actor's good friends, actor Lee Kwang Soo. However, he left the show in 2011 to focus on his acting career. In Kim Jong Kook's Instagram post, he wished the two actors success in their respective careers, as indicated in the same report.
In a previous interview during the pilot episode of KBS2's "Come on Show," Kim Jong Kook also spoke about the "Descendants of the Sun" actor's rising popularity. When asked if he has gained a higher popularity level in China than Song Joong Ki, the Korean singer indicated that nothing can beat the actor's growing fame. He also commented that his former "Running Man" cast member's popularity in the said country "can't be touched," allkpop reported.
Apart from the photo, Kim Jong Kook also made a guest appearance in Song Jong Ki's Shanghai fan meeting held on Saturday, July 16. The said fan meeting also marked the end of the Korean star's Asia fan meeting tour.
