EXO's Chanyeol has recently received harsh criticisms from fans over an apology message he uploaded on social media for illegally downloading a Pokemon game.

The Korean singer's latest Instagram posts came under fire after it was discovered that he downloaded an illegal simulation of "Pokemon Gold" on his phone. However, fans continued to criticize the Korean star over the sincerity and writing quality of his apology message, All KPop reported.

Fans claimed that the EXO band member's apology message conveyed a joyful and excited tone. Chanyeol has used several exclamation marks in his apology message. He also adopted a third-person writing style where he referred to himself as a third person instead of using the word "I." Critics stated that it made the singer's message sound unprofessional and childish.

Chanyeol's use of a random picture that was included in the musician's Instagram apology message also irritated some of the fans. Netizens described the singer as insincere given the said picture choice. The various criticisms led the EXO member to edit his original apology message.

He removed the exclamation points and changed the third-person writing style. Chanyeol also deleted the initial photograph that he posted on Instagram and replaced it with an image of a dark background.

On the other hand, a translated version of the Korean singer's Instagram apology message indicated that he was wrong about the illegal download, Soompi reported. He also described his action to share an image of said game, that has since been deleted, on his Instagram as a rash decision. He then apologized to his fans and other gamers whom he may have offended with his post.

Chanyeol also promised to use properly licensed and genuine products moving forward. The EXO member even mentioned that he will try to be more careful about his actions and other aspects at all times.
