Samsung has now admitted that there was a problem with their Galaxy S7 Active production line after several phones failed a simple water dunk test.

The quality of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active was doubted after Consumer Reports tested not one but two of the smartphones that were marketed as waterproof and it turns out that both of them were not. Even CNET has conducted their own test and they found out that their model was defective as well.

At first, Samsung issued a statement saying that the models tested were simply defective and that not all of the released Galaxy S7 Active models had the same problems. However, the South Korean tech giant seems to be shifting their stance on the issue.

Samsung told Consumer Reports that there was a problem in the production line of the Galaxy S7 Active and that they were able to fix it, The Verge has learned. The company did not disclose what the problem was regarding the phone but they claimed that they were able to correct it.

Despite admitting that there was a problem in their production line, Samsung said that the currently available Galaxy S7 Active phones will not be recalled or swapped by new ones. What is interesting is that they did say that defective units can still be swapped which means that they are not really telling the public regarding the extend of the waterproof problem.

Samsung said that there was a "tiny" number of Galaxy S7 Active phones that were deemed defective with regards to the waterproof or water resistant feature, Engadget reported. The company did not disclose how many units were really affected.

If a user founds out that their Samsung Galaxy S7 Active is indeed defective and is not waterproof, they can easily swap it with a new one without the defect at their local certified Samsung store. Of course, it would need to be within the warranty period.

Users can test their Samsung Galaxy S7 Active phones whether it is really waterproof or not but it is recommended to make backups of the data just in case things go south. If the phone is not damaged, they will not be able to swap it with a new one.
