Nvidia is in the game again with the release of its new Titan X graphics card. The latest GPU has a price tag of $1200, and it is believed to be the most powerful graphics card ever produced by the company.
The company has been preoccupied in the past months with the launch of new GPUs. Nvidia launched the GeForce GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 in May - cards that deliver high performance. The GTX 1080 outperformed the 2015 Titan X.
In a statement via Nvidia official blog, Jen-Hsun Huang, the CEO of Nvidia said, "It's insane. The 1080 is insane; it's almost irresponsible amounts of performance. This is the future of graphics, available today. 1080 is the new king."
While the graphics card designer has not provided any comparison between the new Titan X and GTX 1080, the latest GPU is now the most powerful GPU since it can deliver performance of 11 teraflops. The Titan X 2016 features Nvidia Pascal architecture, and therefore, it is the ultimate graphics card. The groundbreaking Titan X gives users the power to accomplish things beyond their expectations.
With regard to specs, the new Titan X sports 12 billion transistors, 3584 cores clocked at 1.53 GHz, and 12 GB of GDDR5X memory. The manufacturer boasts that the new Titan X is about 60 percent faster than its predecessor is.
The 2015 Titan X shipped with 3072 CUDA cores, which is a bit lower than the current 3584 CUDA cores. Apart from being based on Nvidia's Pascal GPU architecture, the company claims that this is the biggest graphics card ever built, according to Nvidia official website.
The new Titan X will be available from the company's official website from Aug. 2 in Europe and North America. The company did not give the release date in other regions, but it said that the new Titan X would be coming to Asia soon.
The latest card can draw less power as compared to its precursor. However, there is no information with regard to power consumption. On the other hand, the new card will be a bit more expensive than the 2015 one, which had a starting price of $1000.
