"The Big Bang Theory" will introduce Penny's mother to viewers in the first episode of Season 10. CBS' hit comedy series has cast Katey Sagal to play the role of Susan, the mom of Kaley Cuoco's character.

According to E! News, the show's executive producer, Steven Molaro, made the announcement during "The Big Bang Theory's" panel at the 2016 San Diego Comic-Con held last weekend. Sagal's casting marks a reunion for her and Cuoco, as the two had already played mother-and-daughter on the comedy series "8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter," which ran on ABC from 2002 to 2005.

CBS described Susan as neurotic and stressed out from a life with her cheerful yet former drug dealer and ex-convict son, Randall.  Penny's brother will also be making an appearance on the first episode of the next season and he will be played by "30 Rock" alum Jack McBrayer.  Her father, played by Keith Carradine, has already appeared in earlier episodes.

Variety wrote that when a fan had asked what is coming up for Penny's career, given that she is making lots of money but is unhappy, Molaro said that she is surely going to "weigh her options," but that they are still figuring out what will happen to her.

Molaro also revealed that Sheldon and Amy's story was something to look forward to, as the two are going to go to a real-life flag convention. As for the Sheldon and Amy's much-anticipated "coitus" last season, Molaro said that it was meaningful to everyone and that is was a "long time in the making," also jokingly admitting that not since he lost his own virginity has he been so "stressed out" and "invested" in one physical act. He further pointed out that a couple of that particular episode's aspects had been planned a few years in advance.

Another fan also asked Molaro whether the show's writers have an endgame in mind, to which he answered that it is "too soon" for them to think about an end point. He admitted that there have been a few ideas that floated around, but they do not know how long the series is still going to go on for.

The Big Bang Theory's 10th Season will premiere on Sept. 19.
