At the recently held San Diego Comic Con 2016, the cast of "Teen Wolf" gifted fans with updates on Dylan O'Brien. Contrary to speculation that he may be a no-show in the series' sixth outing, O'Brien's Stiles is taking center stage.
Although O'Brien was absent from the "Teen Wolf" panel, the exclusive first look at "Teen Wolf" Season 6 showed a lot of Stiles in action. It appears that he will be at the center of the new season's story, and as promised, there's also a lot of "Stydia" thrown into the mix.
According to Mirror UK, Stiles plays a big part in "Teen Wolf" Season 6 because a lot of show's mystery revolves around him.
"We're going to see just what Stiles' friendship means to Scott, Lydia, and Malia," Davis said. "We're going to see why exactly he's Scott's best friend, what it means that he's Malia's human anchor, and what his will-they-or-won't-they relationship is with Lydia."
"Teen Wolf" creator Jeff Davis revealed that O'Brien was "still at home, recuperating," ET Online reported. The 24-year-old actor suffered serious injuries after an accident on the set of "The Maze Runner: The Death Cure" in March. Luckily for "Teen Wolf" fans, O'Brien was able to film his scenes for the show before he got into the accident.
It was also revealed that "Teen Wolf" Season 6 will be the show's last run. "This season is a little different, but no less reason to celebrate," Davis told the Comic Con crowd, as quoted by US Magazine. "We're going to hit 100 episodes at the end of season 6, and we've decided that 100 episodes is going to be it."
Tyler Posey, who plays the show's main lead Scott McCall, thanked fans for supporting the show since 2011, but couldn't help but be emotional about the announcement. "This has been the biggest movement that we've ever been a part of," Posey said about the show's six-season run.
In the meantime, the release date for "The Maze Runner: The Death Cure" has been moved to Jan. 12, 2018 from its original Feb. 17, 2017 schedule. The production for the movie has been shut down indefinitely to give O'Brien more time to recover from his injuries.
