"The Walking Dead" season 7 may feature some character deaths, but comic book writer Scott M. Gimple clarified that there will also be light and fun moments in the hit AMC series.

While speaking with TV Line, Gimple said, "There's absolutely lightness, there's absolutely humor, there's actually more friendship, but the story is how do you get there."

Gimple added that one of the most humorous moments in the series came from Melissa McBride's character Carol in the official trailer for "The Walking Dead" season 7. The clip was released at the 2016 San Diego Comic Con.

"Even in the trailer, there are a few moments of humor. I think a lot of humor kind of comes initially from that, 'What the hell is going on.' It isn't all misery but they want to win back their lives," he added.

Meanwhile, even though there will be a mix of light and heavy moments in "The Walking Dead" season 7, Gimple confirmed that episode 1 will feature more of the latter.

"It's very, very gruesome. To tell you the truth, the gore of it is awful but it's secondary... Because from experience, it's probably the sounds that will be worst beyond just the intellectual knowledge of what's going on. It does get gory. We have a brilliant director Greg Nicotero but we also have brilliant makeup effects person, and when these two guys get together, it's bananas. We spared no drop of awfulness, no iota of misery, no scintilla of pain," he said.

In other news, Nicotero previously spoke with Entertainment Weekly to share what it was like directing the first episode from "The Walking Dead" season 7.

According to the director, those two weeks of filming for episode 1 easily became the hardest day of his life.

"You take these actors and you drag them. You illicit the deepest, darkest fears that they've ever had because our actors, they're f*cking in it. So you spend two weeks taking them to this place and it's horrific," he said.

"The Walking Dead" season 7 will premiere on AMC on Oct. 9.
