Twitter users who use the Android app can now use the new Night Mode feature which changes the colors of the user interface to be easier on the eyes even in the dark.
Night Mode features are already present in other apps to help users protect their eyes from the brightness that is amplified during night time. Twitter's official Android app now has the new feature that users can turn on if they would like the darker UI when they are tweeting late at night.
Twitter has made the new Night Mode feature on their Android app easy to spot as users can quickly toggle the option in the slide-out drawer, Android Police has learned. This allows users to change into Night Mode even if it is not dark out yet as some people prefer a darker theme compared to the default bright white and blue color scheme.
There are also some studies that show bright lights during the night can mess with the body's circadian clock and actually prevent them from going to sleep. The new Twitter Night Mode feature could help users to fall asleep faster even if they still want to check out a few tweets.
Unfortunately, the new Night Mode feature will not completely benefit Android smartphones with AMOLED displays like the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. Twitter's Night Mode feature uses a dark blue color instead of a pure black interface, Android Headlines reported.
If Twitter did use black instead of dark blue, AMOLED screens would have very little to display which could end up in huge savings for the battery. Users can even turn on the Night Mode feature during day time to save battery life while checking out their Twitter feeds.
For Android users who cannot see the new Night Mode feature in the Twitter app yet, they would simply need to clear out the app from the recently used list or to clear their RAM. Opening Twitter again would probably show the new option.
Twitter is instantly rolling out the new Night Mode feature for their Android app and it is not gradual like other updates. Users do not even need to update the app to get the new feature.
