The relationship between Elizabeth "Liz" Keen (Megan Boone" and Raymond "Red" Reddington (James Spader) will be central in "The Blacklist" Season 4. The two have been having a complicated relationship, but amid the tough circumstances in Season 3, it is likely that they will reunite in Season 4 against Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen).
The focus of "The Blacklist" is the unlikely partnership of Liz and Red through better and worse situations, according to Cartermatt. Therefore, fans should expect seeing more of them in the upcoming Season 4.
When "The Blacklist" Season 4 premieres, Liz will be stronger and bolder. Reportedly, she is done playing the damsel in misery; although it does not imply that Red will just let her alone.
The tandem of Liz and Red is the driving force behind the show. Sometimes, their relationship is smooth, but it proves a mess at other times. No matter the turn of events, the duo will always be there for each other, particularly Red for Liz.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Jon Bokenkamp talked about Liz and Red's reunion in the upcoming season.
"I can't imagine him abandoning Liz ... She hurt him, but we often hurt the people we love," Bokenkamp said. "The fact he's been hurt isn't nearly enough for him to walk away."
Meanwhile, Red and Kirk are longtime enemies, and they exist on the show to crush each other. In case Liz will reconcile with Red and work together in Season 4, the duo will be against Kirk. It is unclear on how the production will push on the fight given that Kirk just informed Liz in Season 3 finale that he is her biological father.
The renewed relationship between Red and Liz will raise the question as to whether the former is the latter's father. If Red turns out to be Liz's father, fans should expect a big twist of events with Liz perceiving Kirk as an impostor.
