Google's cloud Compute Engine (GCE) went down for two hours, affecting and losing network connections in multiple zones around the world early this morning.
The search engine giant reported that it was evaluating certain problem with GCE. It later confirmed the glitch to be a network issue. The problem with network connectivity in GCE was eventually addressed after two hours.
"We are sorry for any issues this may have caused to you or your users and thank you for your patience and continued support", Google wrote in its cloud status webpage.
"Please rest assured that system reliability is a top priority at Google, and we are constantly working to improve the reliability of our systems", the company added.
GCE is a popular cloud service that allows companies and businesses to harness virtual machines that are hosted by Google.
Google search engine, Gmail, YouTube, and other Google Services also operates under Google infrastructure.
The search engine giant has always been a go-to public cloud solution. As per record of Cloud Harmony's metrics for 2014, GCE experienced only 66 outages last year for a 99.982% SLA.
Google's Cloud DNS indicated a 100% record. Cloud Storage only experienced eight outages.
The recent network issue, according to Cloud Tech, is rather unusual particularly with the unveiling of PerfKit earlier this month.
PerfKit is an open source cloud benchmarking tool that is design to adapt as cloud technology changes.
Google also introduced Cloud Monitoring and Cloud Trace earlier this year.
Cloud monitoring is a service that helps track usage and uptime for Cloud Platform and Amazon Web Services.
Cloud Trace helps developers come up with reports on their app's performance by tracing occurrences of slow requests.
