Japanese wing back Yuto Nagatomo scored the opening goal at the fifth minute off an assist from Argentine striker Rodrigo Palacio while defender Leandro Desabato netted the equalizing goal for Estudiantes at the 43rd before the game went scoreless for the rest of the way.

Team captain Mauro Icardi missed the game as he continues to recover from a shoulder injury while most of head coach Roberto Mancini's first team also rested.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich fell to Inter's cross-city rivals, AC Milan, in their ICC 2016 opener, 3-3 (3-5) on penalties, held at the Soldier Field in Chicago also on Wednesday, as per Daily Mail Online.

French forward M'Baye Niang opened the scoring at the 23rd for Milan before Bayern winger Franck Ribery leveled it at 1-1 six minutes later. Austrian defender David Alaba gave the lead to the Bavarians at the break by scoring one at the 38th.

Two straight goals from I Rossoneri, courtesy of Andrea Bertolacci and Juraj Kucka at the 49th and 61st minutes respectively, gave the lead back to Milan, 3-2, but Ribery netted his second goal of the game right at the stroke of full time to send the match into a penalty shootout.

Milan outlasted Die Roten in the shootout after Gianluigi Donnarumma saved Rafinha's spot kick.

This is a match between two European heavyweights and even though the best teams of Mancini and new Bayern manager Carlo Ancelotti will not be featured, the two coaches will not fail to use the exhibition match to improve their sides to prepare for the new season.

The predicted result is a 2-1 victory for Inter Milan.
