At 28, former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow does not consider himself retired from football despite his last play in the NFL being in 2012, although he had preseason stints with New England in 2013 and Philadelphia in 2015.
The praying sportsman considers coaching or entering politics, reported Seccountry. Tebow told Associated Press he loves coaching because it is teaching, helping, mentoring, loving and being a father figure. “That is something that has always intrigued me,” he said.
The former winner of the Heisman Trophy and two-time National Champion is still broadcasting at the SEC Network and will release a book about life’s disappointments titled “Shaken,” reported NJ.com.
Tebow, who played for the Broncos, Jets, Patriots and Eagles, said his goal is to make the biggest impact he possibly could in people’s lives.
He is not closing the door to politics if it is the right avenue for him. However, right now, Tebow believes the time is not ripe yet, although it could be in the future. He was even speculated to be a speaker at the Republican National Convention last week, but Tebow was not seen at the event.
When asked by Doug Gottlieb of CBS Sports Radio if Tebow still has football in him, the athlete replied, “I mean, for me, I'm in the best shape I've ever been in.” He continued, “I'm still young, I still feel really good. So is that something that I feel like I can be an effective quarterback in the NFL? Yeah, I really do feel like I could be.”
But he added football is just one thing he loves to do. “But it can't become your everything because eventually you're not going to be able to play, whether that's today or five years from now. And if it's your everything, when you're done what do you do?” he asked.
