Doom is getting new multiplayer modes, upcoming "Unto the Evil" DLC, more hell-themed SnapMap content and a double XP weekend that runs July 29 up to July 31.

The reboot of the classic first person shooter game has seen success with next-gen graphics and fun multiplayer modes. Bethesda Softworks and id Software are now releasing new updates for Doom starting this weekend to give players more reason to slay some demons or to kill each other in virtual hell.

Doom will be getting the "Free Update 2" that includes the new multiplayer modes for players to try out such as Exodus and Sector. Bethesda said that Exodus will be a capture the flag mode while Sector will be a point-capture mode, Polygon has learned. They will be completely free for players who have a legit copy of the game, which was recently discounted at Steam Summer Sale 2016.

Players will now have more reasons to shoot each other or to work together to shoot other players from across the world. Bethesda and id even released a short trailer of the free updates plus the new Unto the Evil DLC.

Doom's Unto the Evil DLC is set to release on August 5 but it will cost $14.99, Destructoid reported. The new Doom DLC contains three new multiplayer maps: Ritual, Cataclysm and Offering.

The new DLC also includes new weapons such as the Kinetic Mine and the UAC EMG Pistol. It will also contain the player-controller Harvester demon which has been featured in the campaign mode of Doom.

Besides the new DLC and the free multiplayer modes, Doom is also getting more content for the SnapMap mode which allows players to create custom maps for multiplayer play. It also includes the much-awaited single-player weapon wheel that allows players to freely select through their available weapons in a more compact user interface compared to the traditional one.

New Doom SnapMap content also includes the jump pads that are customizable in terms of the distance, direction and speed. There are also 30 more new Hell-themed content that would fit well with players' custom maps designed to look like hell plus a new playable demon called the Mancubus.

Doom's double XP runs through the weekend starting on July 29 and will end on July 31. The Free Update 2 is expected to roll out too but the Unto the Evil DLC is slated for August 5.
