Sasha Banks became the new WWE Women's champion when she defeated Charlotte this past week on Monday Night Raw. According to the latest rumors, one possible reason why Banks won the title is because Charlotte asked for a time off.

The Boss submitted the Charlotte at WWE Battleground during their tag team match and many fans believed that it will lead to a title match at SummerSlam. However, Raw commissioner Stephanie McMahon and general manager Mick Foley made the title match on Raw.

Banks went on to beat Charlotte by submission using the Bank Statement in an incredible match that got the fans on its feet. The new Women's champion was very emotional after the match but she certainly earned it.

According to the latest Wrestling Observing Radio (subscription required), the possible reason why Charlotte dropped the Women's championship to Banks on Raw and not SummerSlam is because she will be taking some time off.

It is certainly possible that the former Women's champion wants to take a vacation and the WWE granted her request. However, the latest update on it says that Charlotte asking for time off is false, WrestleZone reported.

The 30-year-old daughter of Ric Flair is advertised for future events and she has a brutal schedule for the next six weeks. It is noted that the original plans for the Women's title match were at SummerSlam but it was changed at the last minute.

Nevertheless, the Banks vs. Charlotte rematch will be announced shortly for the biggest event of the summer. Another reason why the WWE changed their mind about the title change is that they wanted to have a big moment on the very first episode of the brand split.

Banks winning the Women's championship for the first time ever was certainly on the best moments of the past several years. However, she could have received a bigger pop from the Brooklyn crowd at SummerSlam rather than the Pittsburgh fans on Raw.

The women's champion made her mark at NXT and she had one of the greatest women's matches in history in Brooklyn last year. Even though she lost to Bayley, they were given a massive ovation by the fans in Brooklyn as women's wrestling re-introduced itself to the world.
