Xiaomi has announced the Redmi Pro, the company’s ticket against its corporate rivals. With most brands placing premium on advanced camera setups, Xiaomi registers another first with its first dual-camera setup smartphone which comes at a pretty affordable price.

On its own, the Xiaomi Redmi Pro is a smartphone that intends to impress. It features a 5.5-inch 1080p OLED display which will be properly supported by a MediaTek Helio X25 deca-core processor, MIUI reported.

The latest Xiaomi smartphone is also backed by 4 GB of RAM, 128 GB of internal storage and much of the common features mode mobile phones have such as a USB-C port for connectivity options and a fingerprint sensor for better biometric security. It is dual-SIM capable, armed with VoLTE and is supported by a 4050 mAh battery that will be tasked to keep it powered up.

Of the features the Xiamo Redmi Pro has to offer, the focus is on the 13 MP rear dual-camera it comes with. The camera is backed by a Sony IMX258 sensor plus a 5 MP Samsung sensor on the rear, a setup that the company claims can render DSLR-quality photos, GSM Arena reported. Up front is a 5 MP camera as well.

Of the features enumerated, Xiaomi is pinning consumer acceptance on the main camera. Aside from the technical features, it will also be backed by focus-pointing capability and apps to add some flavor to captured images.

The device will come in gray, black and gold and measures 151.5 x 76.2 x 8.15 mm. It weighs only 174 grams.

Prices start at $224 for the basic model which comes with 32 GB of storage plus 3 GB of RAM. The price incrementally goes up from there.

Xiaomi’s top of the line Redmi Pro model will be priced for about $299. This model will be the one armed with 128 GB of storage space and come with 4 GB of RAM.

The Xiaomi Redmi Pro is expected to be made available by Aug. 8 in China. Like most of its previous smartphones, there is no word yet from the company if they will be offering the device in the international market.
