HBO comedy series titled "Divorce" will star "Sex and the City" star Jessica Parker. It marks Parker's return to HBO after she won a Golden Globe award for her role in the "Sex and the City."

HBO's "Divorce" is about Frances, a New Yorker who's battling a divorce after 10 years of marriage and two children. While many are speculating that "Divorce" will be a continuation of "Sex and the City," it is not exactly the case.

"Frances was her own person," Entertainment Weekly quoted Parker as saying at the Television Critics Association's press tour on July 30, Saturday. "From the moment I read the pilot, she was so distinct from not only Carrie, but any character I've ever played."

Although it has been more than a decade that Parker was last seen on the small screens, she made it clear that it is not really hard to go back to television. She confessed that she is excited to return on the small screens because she loves everything about it.

"Catastrophe" creator Sharon Horgan is the showrunner of "Divorce" alongside Paul Simms. Horgan, who used to draw inspirations from her own life shared that "Divorce" is somewhat different.

"I am married and my husband watches a lot of the shows I make, Variety quoted Horgan as saying. "I don't usually ask permission to use those stories, but when he watched the pilot for 'Divorce,' the color drained from his face and he was visibly very shaken up."

In June, Parker shared a teaser of "Divorce" on her Instagram. The HBO comedy series also stars Thomas Haden Church, Talia Balsam, Molly Shannon, Tracy Letts, Sterling Jerins and Charlie Kilgore.

The 10-episode HBO comedy series is executive produced by Simms, Parker, Sharon Horgan, Alison Benson and Aaron Kaplan. "Divorce" is slated to be seen on Oct. 9 at 10 p.m. on HBO.
